Recreational Gymnastics

For girls & boys aged 4–12 years

Our Recreational Gymnastics classes are structured, coach-led sessions suitable for children of all abilities, from complete beginners to gymnasts looking to develop and progress their skills.

Each session is 50 minutes long, beginning with a structured warm-up and stretch. Gymnasts are then split into four groups based on their age and ability, allowing our coaches to work with each group at an appropriate level and help every gymnast progress at their own pace.

Throughout the session, the groups rotate around our different apparatus, working on floor, vault, bars, beam and acro trampoline.

Our classes focus on developing strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, confidence and gymnastics technique, while encouraging every gymnast to challenge themselves and enjoy learning new skills. Our coaches work with each gymnast at their individual level, helping them build strong foundations before progressing onto more challenging skills when they are ready.

We aim to make our recreational classes fun, encouraging and rewarding, giving every gymnast the opportunity to develop, achieve new skills and be proud of their progress.

Progress & Awards

Our recreational gymnasts work towards the NAT GAP Progressions Book, providing them with a structured pathway of gymnastics skills to work through.

Gymnasts work towards new skills across the different apparatus, building their strength, flexibility, technique and confidence as they progress through each stage.

The progression system gives gymnasts clear and achievable goals to work towards and allows our coaches to track their development, celebrate new achievements and ensure they continue to be challenged at a level appropriate to their age and ability.

Competitions & Progression

We hold two recreational competitions each year, giving our gymnasts the opportunity to experience competing in a fun, friendly and supportive environment.

For gymnasts who show the ability, commitment and desire to take their gymnastics further, we also offer progression pathways into our Development and Competition Squads.

When We Run

Our Recreational Gymnastics classes run throughout the school holidays.

The club has 4 weeks of planned closure each year – 2 weeks at the end of August and 2 weeks at the end of December.
